Joseph Smith, the Prophet

I know that Monday is almost over. I've been kinda busy. But, I wanted to share a few thoughts, i.e. my testimony, about Joseph Smith.

I've been asked a few times (ok, maybe once) about Joseph Smith. Like, was what he said really did happen?

Well, I wasn't there. So, I can't say that it did happen. But I also wasn't there for the moon landing, so did that really happen? (BTW, I'm not one of those people that think that the moon landings were staged)

Here is what I do know. I know that when I prayed about Joseph Smith, the second time (yeah, the 12 year old girl praying really didn't get much of an answer...I had to wait until I was 18 almost 19 when I got my real answer) that I was engulfed in burning. From head to know, I was on fire. And then I felt arms wrap around me feeling me with love and peace.

So I guess that means, yes, Joseph Smith did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ when he was 14 years old in the grove. He did find the golden plates and translated what we call the Book of Mormon. I know that without a shadow of a doubt.

To believe that Joseph Smith truly did do what he said he did, then you have to believe that all the prophets since him till present day, are really and truly Prophets called of God. I know this to be true.

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We do not pray to him. But we revere him and listen to his counsel that he left us. Just like what we do with all the other prophets.

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints brings me so much happiness and joy. I am forever thankful of a young boy that had the courage to question the world and what was being taught. That had the courage to get on his knees and pray for help and understanding. It can be the hardest thing to do, to pray and ask. But I am so glad that he did. I wouldn't be the person I am today, without the choices and actions that Joseph Smith did.

I'm a Mormon.
