By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
I think everyone I know struggles with this. I know I do. It's really hard to love someone when they are showing you a hard time. (Did you see yesterday's post? Um, yeah) But, as the scripture says, to show that we are true followers of Christ, we should love one another.
Now, as a blanket statement, I do love all of mankind. When I really, truly think about it, I do have love for others. It's those people that hurt me in some way, that make it hard to follow this commandment.
So, how do I find the love for those people that have hurt me? I pray. I pray for help. I pray, to our Heavenly Father, to have more love for them. I pray for them as well. That whatever issues they have, will be solved and they will get to their happy. I pray for compassion. For me and for them.
Take my neighbor. I pray for her daily. I pray that she will have compassion, understanding and love. I pray that I will have the strength and courage to do what is right. I pray to be a good mom. I pray that the kids will be good. And I pray for sound proofing! Hey, it could happen! All you need is faith!
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we are often reminded that we need to have love for one another. We even sing a hymn about it, every once in a while. It's one of the kids favorites!
In a world that is full of hate and revenge, we could all do better to show a little love to everyone around us. Sharing a good feeling with others does spread. Like those do-good commercials where it starts a chain reaction of people just doing the right thing and helping others out. We need more of that these days.
I know that on those days where I really feel the love for everyone else around me, my day goes better. I feel more in tune with the Spirit and I feel my Heavenly Father's love for me more.
