Time for the big reveal!
In a few weeks, Steve will no longer be working for Ernst & Young and will be working for Holland Residential as their Development and Construction Accountant. He will be a supervisor, so that means a promotion and a pay raise! A much needed pay raise!!
And, if you look up this new employer, you will notice it's in Vancouver, WA. So what does that mean? Well, we'll be in Oregon for another year, then we'll be moving BACK to Washington next year! I'm super excited to be back in our home state.
So how did this change all start?
Well, about a month ago, Steve was at work and felt like he needed to start looking for a new job. He had been contacted by a private recruiter before then saying she might have some jobs that he would be interested in. Steve politely said, thanks but no thanks. But then, this promoting happened, and after a quick trip to the Temple for some added guidance from the Spirit, Steve felt that the time was right for a career change. So he contacted her and let her know that he was ready for some job shopping. And then nothing. Nothing happened.
Well, not nothing. I had a baby. After having the baby and once Steve was home for his paternity leave, he prayed about this and asked when is this all going to happen. Well, when he was on paternity leave. Two weeks ago he went in for an interview with the recruiter. They had him look over three jobs that he might be interested in. He said sounds good and lets go for it. The next day, another private recruiting firm contacts him. He sends them he's resume and even before they have an interview, he is asked about this one job and if it would be alright to send his resume to them. Sure.
Finally, he meets with the other recruiter and then has an interview, with Holland. In about two days he has 5 interviews and by the last one, an informal job offer with Holland. Crazy!
Steve had two more second interviews in the works, but after lots of thoughts, prayers, and some career advice from the second recruiting firm, we felt like Holland was the right choice for us. So we turned down the other interviews and asked to take the weekend to be sure about this. Plus, Holland has a very strict offer acceptance policy and you have 48 hours to accept and do a drug test. We didn't want to lose our last weekend as a family to running around to pee in a cup.
It's been amazing and awesome to see the Hand of the Lord in our lives these last few weeks. It's like, He waited for me to have Dexter, then guided Steve, the two private recruiting firms and the employer all to the right place so that Steve could get this job. Just totally amazing!
We are sad to leave EY. They have been wonderful and good to us. But the travel is starting to wear on me and the kids. And Steve. When Steve got the offer to work at EY, the firm was named the best place to launch your career at. And this is true. Once he meet with the second recruiter (the one who only saw his resume and asked to send it to Holland) and with one other employer (not Holland, someone else) they both stated that since he came from EY, they know he knew is stuff. Good to know that EY helped him get his new job!
So that's my major news. Steve is moving on and up with his career, with this new job. And we'll be saying good-bye to our friends in Oregon this time next year.
Oh and if anyone has a car they want to get rid of, we are now in need of a second car! :D

That is so exciting for you! I love that you are moving back to WA where you are so happy. And it is amazing to see the Lord's hand in our lives.
Congrats to Steve! Changes, but hopefully they will be wonderful!
I knew it was a job change, but I didn't want to spill the beans! ha ha ha. Wow, I thought he would be with EY a lot longer, but I think this move sounds like it's better for him and your family. Yes, the travel and such is too much for you and your kids. My friend's bro works as a CPA for a random company in UT and makes over 250K a year. Not that money is everything, but I just thought of my friend's brother when you mentioned Steve is moving away from the big accounting firms. Steve is definitely on the right track! I am so excited for you guys.
Congratulations! It sounds like your husband is in high demand! I'm so glad you all feel good of the decision, and the pay raise is nice too. :)
Hooray! This is all really terrific news!
I'm so glad that you were blessed with such a positive event, sounds like it will be great for everyone!
