My parents were married...today.

Actually, they have gotten married three times, to each other.

Wanna hear the story?

So, they got married April 6th, 1964. 

Then drove across country to Virgina where my dad was stationed before he headed to Germany for three years.

When they got there, they wouldn't let my mom on base.

Why?

Because she wasn't legally my dad's wife.

Why?

He was married before and the divorce wasn't finale when he married my mom.

Oops. He didn't know that.

So, they fixed that up and were married on base. 

Then, many many moons later, they were sealed in the temple for all time and eternity.

That's what we call getting married.

Yes, you are legally married in the temple as well, but we add an extra bonus with the sealing.

:D

So there you go. My parents have gotten married to each other three different times.

And even though the April 6th marriage wasn't exactly legal, they still count that as the their wedding date.

And I would too!
