Seaside

Today we went to the beach! It was fun. The weather was perfect! The wind was barely blowing and when it did, it was warm! The water was warm and not a lot of waves!! It was perfect! We got all the kids to play in the water, playing chase with the waves. Jake even went really deep with Steve and I (we took turns taking him). It was the blast!

But first, we went to Gearhart in hopes of parking on the beach and keeping our van close (because walking .5 miles to the perfect spot with 4 kids and all our beach stuff, sucks!)

Then we got stuck. Like super stuck. We tried everything to get out. And no one seemed to want to help up. One old guy, stopped and said to dig out the tires.

We tired that. It sort of worked. But then it stopped.

Then this SUV slowed and turned around and said they had a rope. And we have a tow hitch in the back! Perfect!!

This wonderful couple (we didn't exchange names at all. Just heartfelt thanks!) hooked us up in the back and helped pull us out.

Here is the results of our getting stuck, digging the tired out and eventually being pulled out. The wife saw what I was doing, and said I should have taken a picture while stuck. Oh well. I think you get the idea of how deep of, well you know, um, sand, we were in!

Thank you our wonderful SUV 4x4 couple! You saved our day!!

Not wanting to get stuck in the sand again (we think we found the sink whole of the beach, because no one else was having any problems driving on the beach), we left to go to Seaside and opted for parking and walking the .5 miles to the perfect spot.

Like I said, it was worth it! Such a beautiful day!!

I started out burying my feet. Then Steve came to "help" and the next thing I know, Jake and Steve are covering me all up with sand!

Zoe and Teage "helping".

I think Teage has a boob sensor, because he kept finding mine even though it was buried in about 3 inches of sand. It hurt!

Leo was helping too, but he kept getting sand in my face. Not cool!

Here are the kids making sand castles. We were in the wrong spot to make a good sand castle. So we made trips down to the water. To make the perfect sand. But then, we just ended up staying down by the water and making a "pool" for Teage to play in. The kids (and when I say kids, I mean the 4 we have plus Steve and I) loved playing in the sand and water!

We had so much fun at the beach! We were there for about 4 hours. It was really cloudy when we first got there, so we didn't put on sunblock. The sun came out finally, but we were all sandy and wet, so we still didn't put any sunblock on. We now feel like bad parents. Zoe has it the worst. Then Teage, Leo and Jake. Steve and I are lobsters. We hurt. Everywhere. But isn't that like one of the things you have to do during the summer? Play in some water (pool or ocean) and get really burnt? Well then, CHECK!
