Goals

*I just like this picture! I wanted a picture of goals, and well, this is just too cute, and true!*

So, it's about 2 months before this little guy is born. And probably the same about of time before we move to Portland. Excited, nervous, unimaginable, those are just a few words that describe what we are feeling about this. So much stuff needs to get done before all the *fun* happens, so I thought I would write them down for all to see, so I will be more willing/motivated to get them done!

1. FIND A PLACE TO LIVE IN PORTLAND!! That is the number one thing we need to get done. All the good places keep being rented. Don't they know that we're coming????

2. CONSOLIDATE ALL STUDENT LOANS
We have so many loans, and they are all coming due in the next few months (how are we ever going to pay for them all???) and we really need to consolidate them so instead of having 20 some different payments, we can just have two for each of us. So far, I have gotten all the federal loans applied for, now I just need to find a good company/bank to consolidate our private loans. Any suggestions??

3. MAKE MORE THAN ONE SALE FROM MY BUSINESS
Ok, so this one is on the public. I have only sold one thing (a burp cloth at the farmer's market last week). I know, I'm small and the hard part is just getting the word out there. But that's where my friends and family come in. I have gotten really good reviews from you guys, but that's it. So, just a little support here! Go to Sara's Sassy Mom & Baby, grab a button, post it on your blog, spread the word, buy something for yourself or a friend. I'm just afraid that all the $$ I've spent on this is going to go to waste. It's only been a week, but still, not a single sale yet? If you have a request or suggestion, please let me know!

4. CLEAN THE APARTMENT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
We have gotten a head start on that. But with three kids, a pregnant mom, it just can't stay clean. I really haven't felt like cleaning a whole bunch yet. That might change though. Steve finally has gotten the dishes almost caught up, so I might be able to go in the kitchen and start there. I just need to do one room at a time and go from there. So, Kitchen, Living Room, Bathroom, Kids Room, Leo's Room, Our Room, Patio. That should keep me busy. If I can just get all the rooms clean, then I can just do a quick pick up each week.

5. PACK BAG FOR HOSPITAL
I need to find my list from past births and start gathering things. I know, I still have ten weeks, but it's never to early to be prepared. Most likely, this won't get done until late June or early July.

6. MOVE LEO INTO BIG BOY BED
I know it's really early, but we need his room to use as a storage place for boxes. I suppose we could just move the crib into the kids' room, but then we would have to get him used to a new home and bed at the same time. Maybe he can do it, but I'd rather him just get use to sleeping in a big bed before the move, so he'll have at least one thing familiar after we move.

7. START GATHERING/COLLECTING BOXES
Again, something that we won't start doing until July, but at least it's written down now.

8. GET PLANS IN PLACE FOR MOTHER-IN-LAW
My awesome mother-in-law is going to come down for the birth and move. I'm so excited. She is an amazing birth coach (Steve is good too, but he hasn't given birth at home 5 out of 6 kids). She'll be a blessing to have here. To help with the packing, cleaning and keeping the kids out of our way. Plus, she'll be with us on the drive to Portland, so that will be good to have another driver. So, we just need to pick a date for her to come out here (probably sometime after the 4th), get it ok'd with housing, and make sure the couch is clean!

9. FIGURE OUT WHAT MY PARENTS WILL BE DOING
They haven't missed a birth yet, so we just need to know what they are planning on doing, and go from there.

10. PACK
This will be like my 23rd move in 25 years. So, I'm a pro at packing and cleaning by now. We can pack everything in a week. We've done it before. But this time, I'll be pregnant and/or just gave birth. So that will be different. Good thing I bounce back from birth really fast (really, I don't know what the big deal is. It doesn't hurt that bad for that long. I just get really tired b/c I can't sleep for a full 24 hours after the baby is born.). I'm sure we could get everything packed in a weekend with all the family that will be here.

11. DO THE FUN THINGS WE HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO DO YET
It's hard to believe that we have been here for 4 1/2 years and still have fun adventures to be had. We'll probably won't be able to do anything (gotta save the $$ for the move), but at least we can say that we tried. More than anything, we'd like to see our friends one more time before we leave.

12. MAKE A QUILT FOR BABY
With all the scraps from my sewing, I want to make a quilt for the baby. I have a really cool idea for it, I just need to get more scraps (or a really cute charm pack or just go out to Joann's and pick some stuff out). Then I just need to pick the backing and get the stuff for the batting and binding. I'm sure, once I get everything, I can make this in a week.

13. FINISH SEWING PROJECTS FOR ZOE
I have one more pillow case dress to make for her, then a really cute patchwork skirt. I have everything here to do it, I just got to sit down and do it!

14. SIGN PAPERS TO MOVE OUT
Again, something that can't be done until the end of June, but I really can't forget to do that. We need to put in our 30 day notice!

I think that's about it. I would love to do some more sewing to. Just for me and our family. If my *little* project ever takes off, I'll be doing a lot of sewing. Which is fine. I've really found something that I enjoy, and would love to start being that Mom that makes all these cute things for her kids. Like, a Trick-or-Treat bag for them. I have the pattern saved (it's online), I got my fabric picked out (saved in a cart/wish list at one of the online fabric stores), now I just need to wait for Halloween to come around so I can get some cute buttons and stuff. But that will have to wait until we move.

So much to do, so little time to do it in. And yet, I wish everyday that it was August already (not just b/c it's my birthday and I'm going to Aerosmith with Elizabeth!!!!!!!!!!) and we were settled and living life. Right now, it just feels like it's on hold. Waiting for something better to come along.

Sara, I love your blog. It really is fantastically laid out. And I know your business will do well. It always starts out slow. I promise I will check out your link. You are too cute.

We had planned to do what we usually do when you are pregnant, but with your mother-in-law being there we won't be needed. Call when you go into labor...we should be able to make it for the birth. Lots of love, Mom
