Our Trip to Salt Lake

Yesterday I was tired of being in the house and needed to get out. And the weather was so beautiful. So we went to Salt Lake for some fun. Friends of ours went to the Church History Museum a month or so ago, and said it was really fun, so I thought we should check it out. We've never been there, and since we are moving soon, we thought it would be the perfect time to go.

We got there and knowingly went through the "boring" part first. The Church History Museum has a "I'm a Child of God" exhibit mainly for kids, so we saved that part of last. Here are a few pictures of the "boring" part. (Sorry, there are a lot of pictures)

First stop, the First Vision. The kids sat there for a long time just looking at the stained glass of Joseph, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Leo enjoyed it too!

Zoe checking out Palmyra.

The kids playing the the bunk beds from the boat crossing to America from England. I don't think I could have slept on those beds for one night, let alone 9 months. Yikes!

President Jacob D. Richins??

Sister Zoe E. Richins??

Leo S. Richins, he's just cute!

We finally made it to the kid friendly area. We spent a lot of time there. The kids had a blast! We made Temples, played with the babies, hung pears of CTR on the Tree of Life, and just had a really good time!!

Doing a maze

Zoe finishing up the star

Daddy dressed her up, and she got her baby. Aren't they cute?

Leo getting in on the action.

Jake building a temple. He tried really hard to make the same temple that is behind him. He got pretty close to it too!

Zoe came to help.

Daddy built this temple.

Zoe copied it. She did pretty well!!

Jake built that temple. Look at the spire Daddy.

See how well I did?

Close up on the Temple.

Zoe washing her baby.

One more temple. 3 spires this time!

Time to feed the baby!

My cute family!!

After this we went in to the next exhibit, the inside of the Tabernacle. And another podium for the kids to play at.

Jake

Zoe, and she was standing on the box they had back there.

Leo needed some help getting up there, and to smile.

On the way out the kids got to pull a hand cart. It was really cute, and they pulled it pretty far too.

Pioneers? Probably not.

While there, we thought we would go across the street to Temple Square. The Tabernacle was done, so we went in. They were just about to do the acoustics test, so we stayed for that. Leo was really loud and we could hardly hear the Sister (who was from Washington!! Cheney and Zillah) who was talking. Then we went to the fountain there on the South side of the Temple. There, we ran in to another set of Sisters and just chatted for a bit.

Zoe really liked the fountain.

Jake and Leo

Like I said, she really liked that fountain. It was, "pretty water"

Me, the kids and the sisters.

Again, we thought, we'll while we're here, why don't we go to the Conference center and see if we can get to the top to see the garden up there. It was really cold, and the roof was closing in 5 minutes while we got there, so we hurried up to the top, and the good sister showed us all around up there. It was really cool. Then, we went back down and saw the rest of the Conference center. It was all broken down and getting ready for General Conference in a month, but still pretty awesome to see it.

The sister said this was the best time of day to be up there. I would have to agree.

Our little family, on top of the Conference Center, with the Salt Lake Temple in the background.

Me with Jake and Zoe at the other fountain at the back of the roof. Zoe liked this one a lot too!

So there you go. Our trip to Salt Lake. We are hoping this isn't the last time we go down there, but at least we did some fun stuff that we didn't know we could do. And it was all free. Well, except for the parking, and the gas to come down, but everything else was free! What a way to spend a Saturday with the family. And the kids slept so well when we finally got home!
