Fall Colors

This is what I see out of my living room window. Just a bright yellow tree. Isn't it beautiful? It seems like this is the first true fall we've had here. The very first time we were ever in Cache Valley was October 2004. Yup, I was 8 months pregnant with Jake. We came down from Washington to check out Utah, go to General Conference, (we went to the Saturday Morning Session where President Uchtodrf and Elder Bendar were sustained into the Quorum of the Twelve) and also check out Weber and Utah State. We stayed with Justin's parents. It was quite a drive from Lindon to Logan. But we did it. Coming into the canyon, well it was breath taking. All the trees were bright red (the bad color. We had just seen The Village twice before we went to Utah) and the valley was full of bright yellow and orange. It was so pretty. We moved down here two months later. And you know what? We haven't had a real fall sinces then. I think our first actual fall living here, we had an indian summer and the fall colors were so short, that it was winter before we knew it. So that was 2005. In 2006, the fall colors weren't so pretty. Mostly browns and ugly reds. Then in 2007, went into winter so fast, that the trees lost their leaves right after they turned brown. But this year, it's been great. The trees on the mountains turned red around the first of October. But the leaves in the valley stayed green. Then it snowed. And we thought we were going to skip right into winter, but the snow made the leaves turn yellow. And for the last week or so, we've had warm weather. So the tress have slowly turned yellow, orange, and reds. It's so pretty right now. And the leaves aren't falling real fast either. You can't really tell in this picture, but if you click on it and look closely you can see red trees! So, it's sad to know that this is our last fall here. In the Pacific Northwest, well, fall really isn't so pretty. Not on the coast it isn't. The leaves turn brown and ugly orange. Not a lot of pretty yellows or reds. On the east side of the mountains there, well it's more like Utah there. You know, when we first got here, we were looking forward to four seasons and lots of snow. I think we both miss the two seasons of the Northwest, wet and wetter. We've missed the rain a lot. But have enjoyed the thunder and lightening storms that Utah gets. Those don't happen too much back home. Anyways, I'm glad that we are getting a beautiful fall here. Even if there is snow in the mountains already. I just hope the snow doesn't come too early. We need to be out of here before the snow comes. Moving in a snow storm, well, it's not that fun. So here's to a beautiful fall. Our last here in Logan, Utah. And let's all pray for the snow to stay away until after the Richins leave town!!

you'lk be happy to know that we are having a pretty rad fall. It hasn't rained too much and the trees are just beautiful. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am living on the west side of the state. Its a lot like the wonderful falls the eastside gets!!
