Update on Us

For a student family, we really are busy. Last week Steve was in Salt Lake City for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Summer Leadership Program. He had a great time there, and the more he spends time with PwC the more he wants to work for them. Which is such a total turn around from last year. Last year, he went to the Ernst & Young (E&Y) Summer Leadership Program and really wanted to work for them. Then recruiting happened, BAP stuff, and a bunch of other things, and he realized that E&Y wasn't really for him anymore. I'm sure that if they offered him a job this October and not anyone else, he would take it, but the big 4 know that they are ranked among recruits, if that makes sense. So, last year it was:

1. E&Y
2. Deloitte
3. PwC
4. KPMG.

Now this year is:
1. PwC
2. Deloitte (they gave him a scholarship this year!!)
3. E&Y
4. KPMG (but since we're looking at Portland for sure now, it's more likely Moss Adams #4 then KPMG #5)

As we get closer to recruiting season, I get more and more nervous. We are so sure that Portland is where the Lord wants us, but it's just finding a job to get us there. We had such a hard time last year, I'm scared to death that he'll graduate without a job offer to go to. Let's try not to think about that. Other than that, Steve is doing well. He's in his second semester in the Grad program. We're almost done!! He's still working hard and studying hard. He's really happy that his friend, Adam, is in the same classes as him. It makes studying a little bit easier for him to study with a friend.

So, Leo just turn 4 months old. Can you believe it? He's 4 month old now. Time sure does fly by. At the doctor's he was perfect! But Leo is always perfect! (He sleeps from 8 or 9 pm to 6 or 7 am! It's great!!) He is now 14.5 pounds and 26 inches. He gained a little over 3 pounds in 2 months and grew 3 inches! So, he's tall and skinny! And he has a big head, but not like his brother!! LOL Leo is now trying to roll over. I'm really bad at putting him down on the ground. I'm afraid that his big sister or brother might "help" and get too carried away and end up really hurting Leo. But when he does have some tummy time, or just on his back, he tries to roll. And he can sort of sit up now. Only for a minute before he face plants. Leo truly is the best baby ever! He is an angel!! I'm so happy that he is our son, and that he wanted us to be his parents!

Zoe turns 2 in three weeks. Can you believe that? She is really starting to get tall now. And she talks all the time, but who knows what she is saying! LOL She is always carrying her baby around and is a good little mommy. Funny thing, she does do "girly" things, but then this morning when we played outside for a bit, she found a water gun and was going around "shooting" like Jake was doing. She's going to be a tom boy, I just know it! But that's ok. I was a tom boy too!! The one thing she has starting doing, that is really bad, she takes off her diaper at bed time, or just any time of the day. She wants to be a big girl, but really doesn't have the idea of going potty on the potty yet! It's really annoying to see her at bed time naked and know that somewhere in the their room there is a dirty diaper.

Jake is Jake. He's getting taller as well. He is talking all the time as well. But at least we can understand him more! He is so smart. I can't believe how smart he is. The things he figures out is just amazing! If only he would apply that smartness to potty training. He now has no desire to go potty on the potty anymore. Hopefully, we'll get it down. I'm really tired of three kids in diapers, but then, knowing what kind of kid Jake is, I would still be cleaning up messes when he's potty trained. Any tricks to get a little boy potty trained?

As for me, I'm just trying to survive each day. But they aren't that bad. My kids are really good kids. And they are starting to behave better at Church, so that makes things easier there too! I'm starting to get worse at golf though. Steve said that when you first start you do whatever feels natural and you do well, but when you start to do the right thing, your game goes down hill. We hit some balls this morning, and I didn't do so well, so I didn't have that good of a time. But I really want to have something that Steve and I can play together. Softball is out because, frankly, Steve throws like a girl. You know the ones that have their elbow stuck to their boob and just kind of lob it over. Yeah, like that girl. Sorry Steve! And we can't play soccer, I'm not big on running. Tennis is out, we're not that good. So golf it is! I just hope that I start to get good soon. I hate not being so good.

So that's life at the Richins' right now. We're busy and always on the go. The 4th of July is my favorite holiday, so I'm excited for this afternoon to come, so our weekend can start! So many BBQs and stuff to do with friends, I can't wait! And maybe a round of golf. Who knows!

Fun! Erick once tried to teach me to golf, but I got pregnant and stayed that way for a few years. It is really fun to do together, though. I hope someday he'll try again to teach me.

We are really looking forward to the BBQs as well. As for the potty training, good luck. Caelen is 3 1/2 and is still working on it. But in all that time, and with all those set backs, I've finally learned that he is going to do things his own way no matter what I do. Basically, you both have to be ready for the potty training, not just you to be done with diapers for at least one kid or him to start being a "big boy". Remember that patience has its own rewards, and trust me: you don't want to rush this! It will only make things take longer and leave more messes.

I wish I could help some other way. Good luck!
