The Omen Machine is the next chapter in the lives of Richard and Kahlan's story by Terry Goodkind. Richard and Kahlan are the main characters in the Sword of Truth series.
Just to be clear, this is not a new book in that series. But this is, what happened after, book. What a great idea!!!
So, that being said, this book was AMAZING! All the great details, the mystery, the sucking you in right from the beginning, Goodkind doesn't disappoint! It ends on a clifhanger, and I read on Wikipedia that he has signed a contract to write three more books, The Omen Machine being book 1 of that. *totally jumping up and down clapping my hands!*
The Omen Machine picks up the day after the end of Confessor. And I feel bad that poor Richard and Kahlan don't really have a day of rest. Well, they get one in Confessor. Anyway, they start hearing weird prophecies, or omens, from everyone. People are just really concerned about the dark omen's they keep hearing. And Richard pretty much thinks that prophecy is hogwash. He believes that magic needs to have balance. So the opposite for prophecy is free will. He chooses free will. So, thus starts a battle between them and everyone else in the Place of the Prophets who want to know about the omens. But something is just fishy about it. People, who haven't ever shown any hint of prophecy start spouting very dark and weird prophecies. And what's worse, they come true within a few days for being "told". Most prophecies takes thousands of years to be fulfilled and even then, it might be multiple times.
And to top it all off, Richard and Kahlan find this "omen machine" that just throws another kink in the plot. What's going? What is this machine? How will Richard and Kahlan defeat these prophecies that keep coming true? Who is behind it all? Will Richard be able to figure it all out in time?
I can not tell you how awesome this book is! I loved it! And yes, I bought the hardcover book. Read it in a week. I was reading whenever I got the chance.
WARNING - This is a Goodkind book, so there is violence. This time, lots of kids get hurt. And brutal murders happen. If you can't or won't read stuff like this, then pass this book by. But, if you are like me, and have a heart of ice can handle stuff like this, then READ IT! But make sure you read all the other books first! It's so worth it!
The Omen Machine can be found on Amazon for $16.12 Hardcover. The kindle edition, $12.99, will be released on November 15th. Or, it can be found at your local library!
