Adventures at the Park

After two years of living here, and hearing rumors of a disc golf course near by, we finally found it! Saturday evening, after an early dinner, we thought that we would walk to the park and play some frisbee golf! It was only a short(ish) walk for us.

On the way there, we took a short cut through a neighborhood. Just behind a bunch of condos, in the woods. Just as we left the paved trail, Steve saw a grave site.

He said it was a double grave, 1976 and 1983 were the death years. Really, this grave site isn't more than 10 feet from a backdoor of the condos.
Just a tab bit creepy.

On our way through the trail (we made it to the paved part of the park) we ran into a couple that had found a kitten that was crying for his mama. We told them what we knew about paying to turn over the kitten to a shelter. As we headed off to the course, and they headed back towards the condos.

We finally made it to the course and off we went!
Steve took a picture of the course, just in case we got lost out there. We did, we missed hole 7. We pulled up this picture and found it!

Steve won, by the way. I was plus 11 and was plus 8. I'll get him next time! And the kids all had a frisbee, so they could play with us too! Jake is getting pretty good at it. Although, he's a lefty but was throwing righty. Oops.

On our way back to hole 1, Zoe said she needed to pee and wanted to play at the playground. Ok then!

Steve wanted to prove that he could do it, going up the hard way on the other side. After helping Zoe up, I snapped a picture of my three monkeys!
Three monkeys on a rock!

Not wanting to be out done, I joined the party too!
Zoe joined me up there too.
There was another boy at the park with his Mom. Teage was playing with him on a bug bouncy thing. Leo was running from the big rock to a small rock (which he could climb by himself) and the swings.

Once Dexter started crying we headed home.

On our way back, we were worried about the kitten. So when we passed the spot where the couple was, we slowed down, shhed the kids and listened. Nothing. And then, as we were about to leave, we heard him crying his little head off. I walked about 10 yards off the paved road, and found him under a blackberry bush. OUCH!

We walked home and talked about how crappy the couple was for just putting the kitten back. Obviously, the mama didn't want him anymore. The poor thing was going to die. Thank goodness we love animals!
Then we talked about keeping it and taking care of him. I guessed he was about two weeks old. It was going to take a lot of work.
We talked about maybe seeing if our vet could take him. Since, it was almost 8, the shelters would be closed before we got home, and they charge a $10 fee to drop off a lost cat. And we just don't have $10 right now. (We are 4 days shy of pay day lol!)
So, once we got home, we tired putting some milk in a bowl (I was sure he didn't know how to lap milk up yet, he was trying to nurse my finger on the way home), then we tired an old medicine dropper with some milk. It was too big for him to eat from.
Plus our cat didn't much care for the new kitten.
He really was a pretty kitty!

He kept nudging the towel trying to get under it and find his mama to nurse from.

Sorry for the fuzzy pic, he just kept wiggling!

One of the cutest kitties I've seen in a long time!

Ahh!

The kids really wanted to keep him. We did too. But we called our vet and explained what was going on. After being on hold for a bit, they said we could bring him in and they would find a foster family for him and take care of him. But we would have to release all "claim" on him and wouldn't be able to get him back, or get any medical info on him.

I took Zoe with me to the vet. She was sad to see him go. The ladies and one gent at the vet, were ohhing and awwing over him. Come to find out, the kitty was going home with one of them that night. They didn't have a mama cat that was nursing right now, or anyone that stays over night at the vets to take care of him. So, he gets to go home with one of them to be snuggled and loved!

I'm so happy that we went on this little trip. We had fun. Found a place to play one of our favorite games. And saved one of God's creations from death. All in all, a good day!

Those graves just seem so random! Weird. And thank goodness you rescued that kitty! Poor thing. Frisbee golf is fun, I used to play all of the time.

What a fun adventure!

That kitty reminds me of when I found Preston, so TINY! I hope there weren't other little babies around, I can't believe that one couple just left it there. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

Glad to hear it's in good hands and that it found you guys!!
