I remember when...

...we were loved and popular and got a bunch of Christmas cards.

Our first Christmas, our door was covered!

Last year, we got, I think, maybe two or three.

This year, not a single card. Yet.

My mom doesn't send them out anymore.

We just can't afford the cards or postage to send any out.

And I find the e-mailing of a family/Christmas letter a little annoying. Yes, I know it's a time and money saver, but yeah, I don't like it. I guess I'm old fashioned and like getting an actual card in the mail that I can display.

I tried last year to come up with our own Christmas email and I didn't like it. I usually type up a little letter to go with our Christmas card, but after reading it on a friends blog that she doesn't like and wouldn't even read the letter and just throw it away, I stopped doing it. Because I had sent them our annual family/Christmas letter/card and got my feelings hurt. Then we got really poor and couldn't justify paying an arm and leg for cards and postage.

I guess, the same thing could be said for this year. Instead of cards for family and friends, we are getting one gift for all of us and calling it good.

Anyways, I just saw a really cute tutorial on a card hanging thing to display your cards with and I thought that would be cute and fun to do. But alas, I thought, why should I, we haven't even gotten one card yet. So why bother?

Maybe I'll bookmark it and make it in a few years. Hopefully by then we'll start getting Christmas cards again.

I know the feeling.

For me, I'd love to do the card thing, but it's just one more thing on my list to do, and I guess, there are other, more pressing matters. It just gets busy with lots of little ones, not a lot of money (or time!). Something has to go, and I guess the Christmas card tradition is one of them. I believe many people are in this boat, this may explain why no Christmas cards (not that we don't love you!). And for what it's worth, I love getting the annual letter, picture/card. Makes my day.

I do still send Christmas cards, but this year I was late getting them out. Yours should be in your mail box. We've only gotten 6 this year so far.
Love you
