Steve's Graduation!!!!

Yesterday Steve graduated with a BS in Accounting. I'm so proud of him. His mom and step-dad came down from Washington, and my parents came down all to support him. I just can't express how proud of him I am. He has worked so hard to get this. Steve's mom asked, "When did you start going to college?" and Steve replied, "I started running-start in 1998." For those of you who don't know what running-start is, it's a program in Washington that lets high school juniors and seniors take college classes at a local community college. The funny story is, that Steve thought he had graduated with his AA from Whatcom in 1999, only to find out after he came home from his mission, that he did not. So, Steve took his last class in the winter of 2003. And then, he didn't know that he was suppose to apply for graduation, so he didn't really graduate from Whatcom until December of 2003. We stayed in Auburn for a while and then after having Jake, we decided that it was time to go back to school. So we moved here at the beginning of 2005 and work for a bit, then start school here, in Fall of 2005. This has been a long time coming. He has worked so hard for this. It's really funny how everything all works out. At the beginning of Steve's almost decade long undergraduate career, he thought he wanted to be a computer guy. Then, when we first started school at Utah State, he was a Marketing Major. Steve had to take an accounting class that very first semester here, and his professor said that most Marketing Majors become accountants. Well, this guy was right. After that semester, Steve was an Accounting Major. It has felt right from the moment he changed his mind. Luckily, that first semester here, Steve was just taking the core business classes anyways, so he didn't have to redo everything. I thought it would take us a lot longer to get here. Not the two years that it has been. It really feels like a lot longer than it has been. We've been through a lot to get here. And even though Steve is not done with school, he has to get his Master's in Accounting before he can be a CPA, we only have one year left. We can do it. I know that Steve will do wonderful in the Master's program! I know that he will be successful in all that he does. I am so very thankful for all that he does to become a better person. I love him so much!

I know it's a really bad picture, but we were far way, and I didn't know that most people just get on the floor to take pictures. Oh well, Steve right after he got his "diploma".

Steve and I after the ceremony. This is the only picture of us together yesterday. I'm a little sad that we didn't get any pictures of us as a family, but we do have to do this again in a year!
